Summer may be coming, but there's never a bad time for Yetis and Snowmastodons! This week we paid tribute to Sacramento illustrator Paul Antonson in another exciting artist spotlight: check out our young artists' featured creature storybooks!
Paul Antonson is an illustrator and designer who studied illustration at Syracuse University. He’s an interactive designer for the Wall Street Journal and has done freelance work for clients such as The Village Voice, The Onion, NY Press, and NYC Social among others. In 2011 Paul illustrated his first children’s book “Snowmastodon! Snow Day Adventure”. In 2011 he also received both a Webby and Loeb award for a Wall Street Journal animation project. Paul and his wife live in Sactown California with a dog named Winnie. His full portfolio can be viewed at paulantonson.com
Because Paul works primarily as a book illustrator, we had our Firefly Artists draw this week's project on the cover of a blank notebook so that they could record their own stories inside! Some students began making comics in their notebooks, others wrote grand adventures, while still others have decided to use their books to make sketches for valuable art practice. We look forward to hearing all about the adventures and art made in our young artists' books during the remaining weeks of the school year.
Thanks for joining us for this week's local artist spotlight: tune in again next time, where we'll explore landscape and detail with another exciting drawing challenge!
